Gallant Bob (Race 9 @ PARX @ 4:35 ET)
Majestic Hussar 20-1: Speedy guy didn’t have much of a chance in the King’s Bishop against a talented cast because of a bad break. I’m banking on him sitting a stalking trip and having more punch than the rest of his foes in here. I’m a little worried that he has only passed horses once, but I think he can do it again.
Dogwood (Race 9 @ Churchill Downs @ 4:59 ET)
Sky Girl 7-2: Banking on Bill Mott moving this filly up in her first start for him. She is 2 for 2 on the track and broke her maiden her going today’s trip of seven furlongs.
Cotillion (Race 10 @ PARX @ 5:10 ET)
Dancing Afleet 15-1: This filly is progressing nicely into this race and has the right style. Don’t think we have seen close to her best yet. The price is great.
Gallant Bloom H (Race 9 @ BELMONT @ 5:17 ET)
Holiday Soiree 4-1: Todd Pletcher is the best horseman in America and has moved this filly way up since buying her over the summer. Her last out win is just a glimpse at how good she might be. A win in this race will put her on the path to the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.
Pennsylvania Derby (Race 11 @ PARX @ 5:45 ET)
Romansh 8-1: Lightly raced, has a right to improve. If he does, he’s as fast as or faster than anything in the race. How can you argue with 8-1? I love the stalking trip he figures to get. Transparent is an insurance policy.
DeFrancis Memorial Dash (Race 10 @ LAUREL @ 5:53 ET)
Service for Ten 10-1: This is a horse for course as he has won 5 of his 9 starts at Laurel. He also loves the distance and owns 3 wins from 4 starts going 6 panels. He fired huge off the shelf and could be even better in the second start of his form cycle. Also consider BEN’S CAT who is as honest a racehorse as there is with 22 wins and 1.6+ million in earnings.
Researcher (Race 11 @ CHARLES TOWN @ 9:50 ET)
Our Double Play 4-1: Trainer Phil Bauer is making his first career start as a trainer with this horse, but he is an accomplished horseman and bettors should have full faith in him. I love the drill on September 7 in 58 4/5 B. He can rate a little bit, which looks like the right style for this race. Looks like all systems are go.
Charles Town Oaks (Race 12 @ CHARLES TOWN @ 10:30 ET)
R Free Roll 10-1: Filly has serious early speed and could get loose on the lead. Working well and picks up veteran jockey Kendrick Carmouche. Beat the boys two back and could be even better against her own gender.
