Although she has just a maiden win, Reneesgotzip (City Zip x No Dress Code by Distorted Humor) could be the one to beat in the Grade II 6 ½ Santa Ynez Stakes from Santa Anita Park on Sunday.
The Peter Miller trainee registered an impressive 2 ¼ score in her debut at Hollywood Park, stopping the clock in 1:09 flat while under a hand ride. She shrugged off 2/5 favorite and next out winner Eden’s Moon as if she were a low level claimer. The sky is the limit for this sharp looking lass. This filly could be something special, but it’s much too soon to know for sure. Corey Nakatani will ride back.
Made To Love Her (Stevie Wonderboy x Love Boot by Storm Boot) will get plenty of support after winning the Moccasin Stakes by four lengths last out under Rafael Bejarano. The filly seems to have really “woken up” since he started riding her. She will benefit from a fast pace. James Kasparoff is the trainer.
Candrea (Trippi x Burn Brightly by American Chance) hasn’t been herself in two starts since finishing second by a half length in the Grade I Oakleaf Stakes. Turning back to a sprint could be just what the doctor ordered. Martin Garcia rides for Bob Baffert.
John Sadler’s Rowdy Gal (Pure Prize x Terribletwos by Pine Bluff) closed strongly to stay undefeated in her second start last out where she dismissed optional claiming company as the prohibitive favorite. She gets a big jump in class here and could be any kind of horse. Joel Rosario will be her pilot.
Generally speaking, I hate betting first out maiden winners in stakes races next out. I’ll make an exception for Reneesgotzip. She looks like a very talented filly that could go on to become a Grade I winner in the future. You can bet her at Twinspires.com.
